Arsenal ‘Hold Meeting’ As Sunderland Blamed For Endangering Players With Tactic

Richard Keys has reportedly stated that Arsenal would “hold a meeting” on Monday in response to Sunderland’s decision of moving their advertising hoardings during Saturday’s match.

The broadcaster expressed concern that this move might have put the Gunners’ players in danger.

Former Arsenal centre-back Dan Ballard opened the score for the hosts on Saturday night at the Stadium of Light, forcing the league leaders to settle for an exciting 2-2 draw.

After Bukayo Saka tied the score for Arsenal, Leandro Trossard looked to have won with a spectacular goal, but Brian Brobbey’s spectacular late equalizer rescued a point for the Black Cats.

In order to counteract the threat generated by Arsenal’s long throw-ins, Sunderland cleverly moved the advertising boards closer to the playing field.

Keys emphasized that such changes might have put their players’ safety in jeopardy and that Arsenal are prepared to hold a meeting regarding this tactic.

Speaking on beIN Sports as quoted by the Daily Express, he said: “Sunderland did not commit an offence of any kind. What they did was moved the hoardings in with the idea being stop Arsenal using long throws.

“It’s very clear the purpose of having done that, as long as there’s a metre between the touchline and the hoarding.

“But in a time where we’ve recently had a fatality because of the proximity of a concrete wall, and I know it’s entirely different, I just looked at that yesterday and it looked a bit close for me.
