Antony Tells Ajax ‘He Wants Manchester United Move In Next 48 Hours’

Ajax attacker Antony has reportedly told the club that he wants to complete a move to Manchester United within the next 48 hours.

The 22-year-old has been extensively linked with a move to Manchester United during the summer transfer window, and speculation over a move to Old Trafford has increased in recent days.

The Brazil international was left out of Ajax’s Eredivisie match against Sparta Rotterdam last weekend, with head coach Alfred Schreuder conceding that the forward was not in the right state of mind to play.

Antony did not train with his teammates at the end of last week, with the forwards reportedly seeking to join the 20-time English champions in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

According to De Telegraaf, the South American has informed the Dutch champions that he wishes to join Manchester United within the next two days.

Man United are believed to have had a bid in the area of £68 million rejected by Ajax last week, but the Red Devils are reportedly planning to make another offer.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the two parties have already agreed on a five-year contract, and the English club has informed Ajax that they will shortly make a new bid.

“Manchester United have communicated to Antony and his camp their plan to submit a new official proposal to get the deal done as soon as possible. Man Utd will do their best to sign Antony, total priority. Five year deal was agreed almost 10 days ago. Up to the clubs,” Romano posted on his official Twitter account.

Antony has made a solid start to the 2022-23 season with his Dutch team, scoring twice and assisting twice in three appearances, including one goal and two assists in two league games.

Will Antony Leave Ajax?

Antony has stated that he is “very happy” in Amsterdam but that he cannot guarantee that he will stay with his current club until the end of the summer transfer window.

“No, to be perfectly honest (offer Ajax fans assurances that he would remain at the club), I can’t. What I can say is that I want to come to the right decision with my family, business partners and Ajax, which is good for everyone,” he told De Telegraaf.

“In the end, God determines my future. I am very happy at Ajax, I have a contract until the summer of 2025 and I will give everything for this beautiful club for every second.

“It’s not like I have to leave. Now I am focusing on playing football and have put all other matters in the hands of my agents and my brother. They will advise me on what is best.”
