Antonio Rudiger Officially Unveiled At Real Madrid Following Free Transfer From Chelsea

Antonio Rudiger has been officially revealed as a Real Madrid player after joining the club as a free agent.

After his contract at Chelsea expired, the Germany international defender decided to take on a fresh challenge with the current Liga champions.

Rudiger will wear the No. 22 shirt for Real Madrid.

His squad number is a return to form for the 29-year-old centre-half, who was previously No 2 at Chelsea.

Who Else Has Worn Real Madrid’s No. 22 Shirt?

Rudiger took over Isco’s jersey when the four-time Champions League winner left as a free agent this summer.

Angel Di Maria, the Argentine attacker who starred in Spain between 2010 and 2015, also wore the shirt.

In 2009-10, World Cup winner Xabi Alonso wore the number 22, while in the late 1990s, former France international Christian Karembeu wore the number 22 during a productive spell in Madrid.

“Madrid have very good players, particularly in my position,” the German said, “but I feel safe and I’m going to add competitiveness because that is very good for a team.” It’s a great challenge.
