Antonio Conte Set For Time Out After Cholecystitis Surgery

Following a Cholecystitis diagnosis, Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte will likely spend some time away from his team.

Spurs revealed in a statement on Twitter that their manager will have surgery to remove his gallbladder on Wednesday. The tweet read: “Antonio Conte recently became unwell with severe abdominal pain.

“Following a diagnosis of cholecystitis, he will be undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder today and will return following a period of recuperation. Everyone at the club wishes him well.”

Cholecystitis is when a person’s gall bladder becomes inflamed. Following the announcement, the footballing world has come together to send best wishes to Conte in his recovery.

Arsenal, FIFA and Premier League Twitter accounts are among those who have sent messages to Conte on social media.

Spurs’ next match comes on Sunday when Manchester City travel to North London. At this stage, it is unclear whether Conte will have recuperated in time for the clash with the Blues at the weekend.

Meanwhile, on deadline day, Spurs managed to complete the signing of former City man Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon.

The signing provides a boost to Tottenham’s back line which needed strengthening following the departures of Matt Doherty and Djed Spence on deadline day.

However, it was also a boost for City after they cashed in ÂŁ10m thanks to a sell-on clause inserted in Porro’s contract. Porro will be in line to make his debut for his new club on Sunday against his old side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
