Anthony Martial Responds To Offers From Fenerbahce And Marseille

Although Saudi Pro League teams have expressed interest in signing the 28-year-old, he intends to play out the remaining months on his current contract.

According to Metro, When Martial moved from Monaco to United nine years ago, he was thought to be one of the most promising young forwards in European football.

But his time at Old Trafford has mostly been a tale of “what ifs,” with injuries becoming a bigger factor in his downfall.

Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s direction, Martial put on arguably his best run of play while wearing a United shirt, scoring 23 goals in the 2019–20 campaign.

Since then, his body has continually let him down, and after returning from a miserable loan spell at Sevilla, Erik ten Hag has relegated him to a bit-part role.

Martial has only made 19 appearances so far this season, scoring two goals, and hasn’t played since Bournemouth humiliated him 3-0 a month ago.

Martial has attracted interest from several European teams despite his most recent extended period of inactivity, but Sky Sports reports that he has no plans to leave the Premier League’s biggest clubs in the middle of the season.

He is expected to depart as a free agent, though it is still highly unlikely that he will sign a new long-term contract.

In December, Ten Hag’s decision to bench Martial during the loss to the Cherries was met with mocking applause and some jeers. The Dutchman then mounted a powerful defense of his most seasoned striker.

‘Two weeks ago against Everton he played a very good game so he has absolutely the competences and abilities to play,’ he said.

‘So I don’t think it is fair, after a performance like this, to go to one player.

‘We as a group failed all together.’
