Andre Onana Confirms Imminent Manchester United Move

Andre Onana has confirmed his impending transfer to Manchester United ahead of the club’s official announcement.

The Inter Milan goalkeeper agreed to terms with the Red Devils over the weekend and will be given a five-year contract with an option to extend his stay at Old Trafford until 2029.

In a transaction worth up to £47.1 million, United will pay an initial price of £43.7 million, plus potentially another £3.4 million in add-ons.

Onana was seen arriving at Milan airport on Tuesday, where he boarded a flight to Birmingham in preparation for his Man United medical.

However, both the player and the club were tight-lipped about the trade until Onana spoke with Gazetta dello Sport about it.

‘The main thing is to be honest and to tell the truth,’ said the former Ajax goalkeeper. ‘I am a person who is always looking for new challenges.

‘It’s enticing to play in the Premier League and for a team like Manchester United.

But what counts is that I would have been equally happy if I had stayed because I never had any problems at Inter. Indeed, in Milan, a magic was developed that is impossible to define.’

When questioned about following in the footsteps of legendary Manchester United goalkeepers like as Peter Schmeichel, Edwin van de Sar, and David de Gea, Onana said, ‘Being chosen to continue this history makes me proud and responsible: I want to win trophies with my new companions.’

‘Manchester United have been hunting for a new No. 1 goalkeeper since deciding not to renew De Gea’s 12-year contract at Old Trafford.

The deal will reunite Onana and Ten Hag, who previously oversaw the player’s progression from Ajax’s development squad to the starting XI.
