Afolabi Okiki could face a FIFA ban after it was alleged forged documents were used to complete his transfer to Egyptian club Ismaily.
Ismaily signed the 23-year-old striker after he finished top scorer in the Ethiopian league to help his club Jimma Aba Jifar win the league championship on goals’ difference.
According to BBC correspondent Omna Taddele, the Nigerian striker, allegedly presented a forged document for his transfer to Egypt, and is now awaiting FIFA sanction after the Egyptian Football Federation disciplinary committee filed a complaint.
He has already been fined by the EFF.
Jimma Aba Jifar have also condemned the alleged act of the former Sunshine Stars and Shooting Stars striker.
Okiki, 23, ended up as the Ethiopian Premier League top scorer in his debut season after scoring 23 goals, helping Jimma Aba Jifar win their first-ever league title.
A couple of impressive performances earned him a trial at Argentina’s Racing Club, but he opted to join Talleres de Córdoba on loan.
At Córdoba, he managed to make only one appearance, starting in his side’s 0-0 draw against South American giants Club Estudiantes.
He then moved to Jimma Ketema last summer. He is Ismaily’s ninth summer signing after deals for Selim Abdel-Khalik, Lassad Jaziri, Christopher Mendouga, Omar Fathi, Essam El-Hadary, Tarek Taha, Mohamed El-Shamy and Mohamed Magdy.
Ismaily finished off their 2017/2018 Egyptian Premier League campaign in the second place which guarantees them a spot in the upcoming version of the CAF Champions League.
