Aaron Ramsdale ‘Set To Sign New Arsenal Contract’

Aaron Ramsdale ‘Set To Sign New Arsenal Contract’

Arsenal are reportedly planning to offer Aaron Ramsdale a new and improved contract in the near future.

Following his arrival from Sheffield United last summer, the England international rapidly deposed Bernd Leno as the Gunners’ number one and got high plaudits for his efforts.

Ramsdale kept 14 clean sheets across all competitions in the 2021-22 season, including 12 in the Premier League as Arsenal narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification.

The 24-year-old has did concede just 10 goals in 10 Premier League games this season, maintaining four clean sheets and helping Arsenal blast to the top of the standings.

Ramsdale signed a four-year contract with the Gunners when he arrived in the summer of 2021, with the option for a 12-month extension until 2026.

Aaron Ramsdale Set To Sign New Arsenal Contract?

According to The Athletic, Arsenal is willing to reward Ramsdale’s efforts with a lucrative new contract as they aim to tie down many young players to longer-term contracts.

Ramsdale is said to be entitled to a greater wage because he is the unquestioned number one for a Premier League Big Six club.

The ex-Bournemouth man, who is set to travel with England to the 2022 World Cup, has made 47 appearances for Arsenal so far, keeping 18 clean sheets.

Arsenal are attempting to tie down a slew of young stars, including Gabriel Martinelli, William Saliba, and Bukayo Saka, to new contracts in the near future.

Mikel Arteta has stated that talks with the trio and their representatives are still underway, and the report adds that discussions with Saka’s entourage are the most advanced.

The 21-year-old, who finished seventh in the Kopa Trophy at Monday’s Ballon d’Or awards, is under contract with the Emirates until 2024, but both player and manager expect a new deal to be agreed soon.

Meanwhile, Martinelli’s contract is similarly for less than two years, although the Gunners have the option to activate a two-year extension until 2026 under the revised terms he signed in 2020.

However, Arsenal want to ensure that Martinelli’s wage package matches his progress and position in the team, as well as Saliba, whose fixed terms are set to expire at the conclusion of the season.

Similarly to Martinelli and Ramsdale, Arsenal may extend Saliba’s contract until 2024, but the 21-year-old is still bound by the conditions he signed upon his arrival in 2019 – albeit with pay increases for his continuous progress.
