England manager Thomas Tuchel has called on his players to be bold and courageous as they prepare for a challenging World Cup opener against Croatia in Texas.
The Three Lions begin their quest to end a 60-year wait for major international silverware when they face Croatia at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
The fixture brings back memories of the 2018 World Cup semi-final, where Croatia ended England’s hopes of reaching the final, reports Irish Sports.
Tuchel believes England should embrace their strengths and play with confidence rather than fear.
The German coach highlighted how many of his players compete at the highest level in the Premier League and Champions League, insisting they are accustomed to playing proactive football.
“We should play brave and play to the strengths of the players,” Tuchel said.
He added that England’s squad is comfortable in attacking systems and that creating energy and excitement will help strengthen the connection between the team and supporters.
Croatia Expected To Provide Tough Opening Challenge
Despite England cruising through qualification, Tuchel acknowledged that Croatia will be one of their toughest tests. Ranked among the world’s top teams, Croatia remain led by experienced stars such as Luka Modrić and Mateo Kovačić.
