Nico Paz has reportedly decided against a move to Arsenal this summer, choosing instead to continue his development at Como despite growing interest from several top European clubs.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has enjoyed an outstanding spell in Italy since leaving Real Madrid in 2024.
Across two impressive seasons, Paz has established himself as one of the standout young talents in Serie A, helping Como secure qualification for next season’s Champions League under manager Cesc Fabregas.

Real Madrid had previously been expected to activate their buy-back clause for the Argentine international, with plans reportedly put in place during Xabi Alonso‘s time in charge. However, the arrival of Jose Mourinho and the club’s pursuit of other attacking options have complicated Paz’s pathway back to the Santiago Bernabéu.
Arsenal are understood to have monitored the midfielder’s situation closely, but reports suggest no concrete progress was made as the player remained focused on his future in Italy.
Como Stay Now Appears Most Likely Outcome
According to reports, Mourinho recently held discussions with Paz regarding his future, though no final decision has been reached between the player and Real Madrid.
Despite uncertainty over whether Madrid will exercise their buy-back option, Paz has reportedly made his preference clear. The midfielder is said to be keen on spending at least one more season with Como, where he would be guaranteed regular minutes and the opportunity to play Champions League football.
The presence of talented attackers such as Arda Guler and the anticipated arrival of Bernardo Silva could further limit opportunities at Real Madrid, making another year at Como an attractive option, reports Football 365.
While negotiations between Como and Real Madrid are ongoing, sources indicate that Paz has already informed the Spanish club of his desire to remain in Italy. For now, Arsenal’s hopes of bringing the Argentine playmaker to the Premier League appear to have been firmly rejected, with the youngster prioritising continuity and development under Fabregas.
