The battle of words between Javier Tebas and Florentino Perez has escalated as the La Liga president questioned Real Madrid’s current condition and the decision to call for presidential elections.
Tebas and Florentino have repeatedly argued over various significant topics in recent years, and the current events at Real Madrid have created a new front in their continuing feud.
Speaking on the approaching presidential campaign at the club, Tebas acknowledged to being startled by Florentino’s decision to hold elections, as well as the appearance of potential candidate Enrique Riquelme.
“I was certainly surprised that Florentino called for elections. I am not going to remark on Riquelme.
“I won’t disclose whether I know him or not because it may be misunderstood. He has the right to stand, and if he succeeds and has a solid strategy, he should offer it.”

Questioning Perez’s vision
The head of La Liga also claimed that Florentino’s long-term strategy for the club is still undetermined.
While discussing the present environment around Real Madrid, he stated,
“We don’t know what initiative Florentino intends to pursue, but there is nothing specific. I believe [Enrique] Riquelme will be concerned because when you start little, you end up with a lot.”
Tebas went on to criticize the overall lack of clarity in the matter.
“The point is, nobody knows; it’s an unexpected circumstance. Meeting locations have been announced.
“Do you understand what’s going on? If anyone knows, please let me know.”
More on the topic.
The La Liga leader also emphasised the necessity of having several opinions within the Real Madrid hierarchy rather of depending just on one dominating figure.
According to Tebas, the arrival of another possible contender has already shifted the talk around the club.
“Whenever there are candidates, there is a time for debate.
“Riquelme’s announcement has already sparked another debate because it seemed that Real Madrid was just one person’s vision or project, and at least now there will be someone else that we Madrid fans can see.”
Continuing his argument, Tebas stated, “I don’t think it’s bad for Madrid that an alternative has emerged; it’s just that I don’t know anything more about the project.”
Attack on Perez.
However, the most heated responses came when the topic went to Perez’s earlier allegations about refereeing decisions and league championships.
The Real Madrid president had previously claimed that multiple league championships had been “stolen” from the club, something Tebas firmly denied.
“No, that is not how things are; it is not true. I’m looking forward to seeing the 500-page report—they’re adding more pages every day. “I want to see everything.”
Tebas conceded that attempts to influence referee appointments existed, but argued that Real Madrid’s charges went too far.
“It’s true that a club attempted to influence appointments, but going from there to claiming they were stolen is not accurate. “You cannot deceive people.”
