According to SPORT, Rayo Vallecano defender Andrei Ratiu is back on Barcelona’s radar as they look for options at right-back.
The curiosity is not totally new; Barcelona was tracking the Rayo Vallecano defender last summer, but things have changed since then.
It was more of a speculative relationship back then, but it is now regarded as a real possibility, particularly given the uncertainties surrounding Jules Kounde.
It should be noted that the Premier League is showing an increasing interest in the French defender, and if a big deal comes in, the club may be compelled to consider it.
In such case, Barcelona does not want to be caught off guard, which is why they are reviewing profiles such as Ratiu.
Is it a perfect fit?
From a sporting standpoint, the Romanian full-back meets the criteria, as he is seen as a natural fit for the position, capable of providing balance in defense while also contributing forward.

However, signing him will be difficult because Ratiu just extended his contract with Rayo Vallecano, which now runs until 2030.
Rayo’s negotiating position has been greatly enhanced as a result of its extension. Furthermore, the Madrid-based club now has complete ownership over the player’s rights after buying out Villarreal’s prior stake.
As things stand, his release clause is set at €25 million, which Barcelona will need to carefully consider considering their financial situation.
Factor in Barcelona’s favor
Despite these challenges, one aspect may work in Barcelona’s benefit.
Joan Laporta, the club president, has an excellent connection with Rayo’s president, Martin Presa.
While Presa is renowned for driving a hard bargain, this link might pave the way for discussions if Barcelona decides to proceed.
Rayo Vallecano is fully aware of Ratiu’s development and growing worth.
The club is aware that they have a player in high demand, which means that Barcelona will face difficult negotiations.
