Steven Gerrard Reveals Advice He Gave Mohamed Salah Over Liverpool Exit

Steven Gerrard has revealed he privately advised Mohamed Salah not to leave Liverpool F.C. “under a cloud” following the forward’s public fallout with manager Arne Slot.

Salah confirmed last week that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season after agreeing to cut short his current contract by a year.

The Egyptian’s relationship with Slot has come under scrutiny in recent months, particularly after Salah admitted in December that he felt he had been “thrown under the bus” during a difficult period for the club.

Gerrard has now opened up on his private conversation with the Liverpool star, insisting he wanted Salah to protect the legacy he has built at Anfield over the last several years.

Gerrard believes Salah Exit is Best for Everyone

The former Liverpool captain said he urged Salah to leave the club in the right way, rather than allowing frustration to overshadow his achievements.

Gerrard also admitted he believes Salah may eventually regret the explosive interview that intensified speculation around his future earlier in the season.

Despite that, the Liverpool legend suggested the timing is now right for both sides to move on after a hugely successful spell, reports Irish Examiner.

Salah is expected to leave Anfield as one of the club’s modern greats after scoring 255 goals and winning major honours including the Premier League and Champions League.

While moves to Saudi Arabia and MLS continue to be discussed, Gerrard believes Salah still sees himself as one of the world’s elite players and may yet choose to remain in Europe.
