Paris Saint-Germain have successfully postponed their Ligue 1 clash against Lens, scheduled between UEFA Champions League quarter-final ties versus Liverpool.
The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) board approved the move despite Lens’ strong opposition, giving PSG additional rest before the first leg on April 8.
The Parc des Princes will host the opening tie, with the return leg at Anfield set for April 14.

Meanwhile, Liverpool face a Premier League fixture against Fulham on the same day PSG were originally due to play Lens.
The rescheduling allows PSG to concentrate fully on their European campaign without domestic interruption.
Domestic Controversy Over European Priorities
Lens publicly condemned the postponement, calling it an affront to sporting fairness, arguing the French championship should not serve as an “adjustment variable” for clubs’ European ambitions.
Club officials emphasized respect for the league, transparency, and equity for all stakeholders, highlighting the tension between domestic competition and continental priorities.
PSG responded, noting that successful European runs benefit all French football by improving UEFA coefficient rankings, potentially allowing more teams to qualify for continental competitions.
Past precedent shows LFP has regularly allowed similar rescheduling to support clubs in European tournaments, reports Mirror.
While the move may give PSG a slight advantage in preparation and recovery, it has deepened domestic criticism and highlighted ongoing friction between Ligue 1 clubs’ priorities, broadcasters, and European commitments.
