Man City Star Opens Door To Real Madrid Transfer

Manchester City midfielder, Rodri has reportedly hinted at a potential transfer to Real Madrid.

The Ballon d’Or winner has long been admired by Real, and there are rumours that they will put City’s resolve to the test this summer in the Spanish capital.

With one year remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, Rodri is not currently negotiating a new agreement. Initially, talks were put on hold while he recovered from a cruciate knee ligament surgery that totally ruined last season.

While on international duty, Rodri stated he would like to return to La Liga in a 48-minute interview with radio station Onda Cero as reported by the Daily Mail.

Additionally, moving to the Bernabeu wouldn’t be a problem for someone who used to play for Atletico Madrid.

Rodri Open To Heading Back To Spain

“I’d like to return (to Spain), obviously,’ he said. ‘For me, La Liga is where I started. I still follow it, it’s true not as much as before, but I still follow it.

“And I have to admit that the Premier League is my weakness. I think it’s a thrilling league but at the same time very demanding, meaning it pushes you to the limit.

“I’ve been there for seven years now, and I’m noticing the passage of time, but for the moment I’m very happy there.”

Rodri, who joined City from Atletico in 2019, chuckled when Real Madrid’s interest was put to him and moved to dispel any rumours that he and Vinicius Junior were at odds.

“They wanted to pit us against each other, but I have a deep admiration for Vinicius,” Rodri added.

“For me, you can’t turn down the best clubs in the world. They have a fanbase that really goes all out for them, and for me, the Bernabeu is always incredible, a stadium that’s very imposing.

“I have one year left on my contract, there will come a point when we’ll have to sit down and talk.”
