Carragher Fears For Liverpool As Champions League Race Puts Arne Slot Under Pressure

Jamie Carragher has warned that Liverpool could struggle badly in the Premier League, insisting Arne Slot faces serious pressure if results continue declining.

The Reds slipped to sixth after losing at Bournemouth, dropping outside Champions League places following wins for Chelsea and Manchester United.

Despite progress in Europe this season, Carragher fears Liverpool may fail to qualify for next year’s Champions League through domestic competition.

The former defender believes missing out on Europe’s elite tournament would leave Slot with no excuses at Anfield.

Carragher admitted Liverpool fans can accept not winning the title, but failing to reach the Champions League is unacceptable.

Liverpool’s Premier League flaws exposed

Carragher argued Liverpool are poorly equipped to handle Premier League challenges, especially against set-pieces, counter-attacks and deep defensive blocks.

He claimed these issues are less visible in Europe, where Liverpool’s style suits Champions League opponents far better.

According to Carragher, no teams deploy low blocks consistently in Europe, allowing Liverpool more freedom to control matches.

Domestically, however, Liverpool have lost seven of their 23 league games, raising major concerns about consistency and adaptability.

Carragher also highlighted Liverpool’s heavy spending and high wage bill as reasons expectations remain extremely high, reports Talk Sport.

Liverpool have not won a league game since late December, despite enjoying a strong unbeaten run across all competitions.

With Newcastle and Manchester City coming up, Carragher believes the coming fixtures could define Slot’s future.

Failure to secure Champions League qualification, Carragher insists, would place Liverpool’s manager firmly under threat.
