Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has returned to the Poland national team, been chosen to the squad for September’s World Cup qualifiers against the Netherlands and Finland.
Lewandowski made the startling decision to leave the national team after falling out with manager Michal Probierz after the coach removed the striker of his captaincy, which sparked such outrage in the country that Probierz resigned. According To Barca News.
Jan Urban has subsequently taken over, and the new manager has decided to recall the country’s all-time leading scorer and re-establish his captaincy, as well as issue a brief statement regarding Lewandowski’s return.

“Robert Lewandowski will be the team captain. The players have already been notified. I spoke with them about it. I wanted them to be the first to hear about my decision. It’s final, and I consider the captain’s armband issue resolved. There will be no additional remark on this topic.”
Lewandowski missed the first game of Barça’s La Liga season due to a small hamstring injury, but he is now fully recovered and will most likely benefit from playing for his country to gain rhythm.
