Stoke City has signed offensive midfielder Jamie Donley on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Leyton Orient, where he made 52 appearances in total, scoring eight times and giving 11 assists.
In January, Donley achieved notoriety when, against Manchester City, his left-footed effort from 45 yards out hit the crossbar before hitting the back of City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega to give the O’s the lead in their final 2-1 FA Cup defeat.

Donley, born in Antrim, is a Northern Ireland international who made his debut in March.
“I had a few teams after me, but I decided on Stoke when the gaffer [Mark Robins] called while I was away on tour,” he told Stoke’s official website.
“The way he wants to play, both in terms of attacking and defending, definitely suits me.”
“I also spoke with Ash [Phillips], who said it’s a great club with good people in the building, and he can definitely see me contributing positively to the team.”
“I have heard a lot about the coaching staff and how the Manager develops young players. That is evident from his previous experience working with various teams.
“I’m a team player; Stoke City fans can be confident that I’ll work really hard, whether defensively or by creating possibilities to receive the ball and play forward.
“I had a very beneficial loan last year; I understand the pressures of men’s football now and how people expect you to contribute in games. I handled that pressure admirably.
