Barcelona star Lamine Yamal hopes to surpass the mark set by Norwegian striker Erling Haaland of Manchester City in the highly anticipated first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals against Atlético Madrid tomorrow, Wednesday.
The Spanish international is highly motivated, especially since he will be facing a rival with whom Barça have unresolved issues in this contest.
In the eight games he has participated in in the current campaign, Yamal has five goals and four assists.
“Sport” as claimed by Goal stated that Yamal, who is 18 years and 269 days old, will become the youngest player in history to contribute to at least 10 goals in a single Champions League campaign if he scores or assists against Atlético.

Yamal will thus beat Erling Haaland’s record of 10 goals and one assist at the age of 19 years and 212 days during the 2019–2020 season, according to the statistics network “Opta”.
This season, the Blaugrana winger has missed two games in the competition: the first was an injury in the first match against Newcastle United, and the second was a ban against Slavia Prague.
