Villa open to Kodjia offers

Villa open to Kodjia offers

Aston Villa are reportedly ready to listen to offers for striker Jonathan Kodjia in the January transfer window. The forward is due to fall out of contract at the end of the season and has struggled for game time this term.
He has managed just one Premier League appearance so far although he has also spent time on the sidelines with cheekbone and ankle injuries.
Kodjia was believed to be close to joining Qatari outfit Al-Gharafa last month before Villa boss Dean Smith blocked the transfer as he didn’t want to be left short on options in attack.
Villa are ready to spend again in the winter window and if they can bring in a new striker it seems Kodjia will be allowed to move on.
It is understood there have been no talks with the 29-year-old Ivory Coast international over a new deal and Villa could accept a cut-price fee in January, rather than allow him to leave as a free agent at the end of the campaign.
It remains to be seen if Al-Gharafa will reignite their interest in the winter window although Kodjia is likely to have a few offers if it becomes clear Villa are open to bids.
The former Angers forward managed 19 goals in the Championship in his first season with Villa in 2016-17 and then hit nine in 43 outings in all competitions last term.
Al-Gharafa reportedly failed with a £7million bid last month but Villa may have to accept a significantly smaller fee in January as he will have entered the final months of his deal.
