UK-bound Buruj Academy to face Lagos Selected at Agege Stadium

As part of preparations for its upcoming tour of the United Kingdom, Buruj Sports Academy will on Wednesday engage the Lagos State Football team at the Agege Stadium.

The Lagos 11, also preparing for the National Sports Festival, is a crack team which has been specially selected to give the Buruj team quality opposition and help its own participation at the national fiesta to be hosted by Cross River later in the year.

The match, slated for 9am, will have prominent sports personalities including FA Chairman Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi as well as other members of the Lagos State Sports Commission, in attendance.

For Buruj Sports Academy, who have three players already selected and invited for a trial in the United Kingdom to showcase their talent for an opportunity to get signed and gain scholarship, this is another opportunity to test some of the players that would be included in the final squad for its tour of the UK.

Meanwhile Buruj is also set to participate at the Easter Opening International Youth Tournament in North-East Brabant Holland, through the Academy’s partnership with Team Tours Direct Ltd of Swansea-based sports business tycoon Terry O’Neill.

The Holland Cup is a two-day international youth football tournament. It has established itself as one of the largest tournaments in Holland.
Towards a successful participation at the Easter Soccer Fiesta, the management is willing to open a wealth of opportunities for more players to benefit from the Academy’s upcoming programs for next year and these will include participations at the Dubai International Super Cup, Manchester International Cup, English and Welsh International Super Cup as well as the Holland International Cup.

This, according to CEO of Buruj Sports Academy, Dr Salahudeen Waheed, is to show the Academy’s commitment to engaging young talented players to partake in these international competitions and thereby showcase their talents to a wider global audience.

“We have shown consistently over the years that we have the capacity and willingness to include players from outside the Academy in our playing tours as long as they show discipline, are talented and ready to abide by our terms and conditions,” he said.
