Thomas Tuchel Sacked By Chelsea FC New Boss Todd Boehly

Chelsea have just announced they have parted company with Thomas Tuchel following their 1-0 Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

The statement from the club read: “On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club.

“Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here.

“As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.

“Chelsea’s coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches as the Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach.

“There will be no further comment until a new head coach appointment is made.”

Why Did Chelsea Sack Thomas Tuchel?

On the opening night of their Champions League season, Chelsea suffered a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb. The croatian team won thanks to a goal from Mislav Orsic in the first half.

Tuchel’s team were shocked in the 13th minute. Orsic outran £70m newcomer Wesley Fofana, beat him to the ball before putting it beyond Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Tuchel himself spoke about how disappointed he was about the performance and game saying: “I’m angry on myself. I’m angry on our performance. It’s not aggressive enough on the ball, it’s not enough individually or enough as a team.

“Not a lot [of players are playing at the top of their game]. It’s obvious that we’re underperforming. It’s a lack of determination.

“A lack of hunger and intensity. You cannot expect to win games. We are clearly nowhere near where we want to be.
