Sevilla Confirm Signing Of Ex-Real Madrid Star Isco On Two Year Deal

Former Real Madrid star Isco has joined Sevilla on a two-year contract. Isco has been a free agent since his contract with Real Madrid expired on June 30, and he arrived at Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan on Monday to finalise his move with a medical.

On Sunday, Sevilla confirmed an agreement in principle to sign Isco, which was followed the next day by confirmation that the transfer had been completed.

What Did Sevilla Say On Isco’s Transfer?

According to a statement on the club’s website, “Isco Alarcon has now officially signed for Sevilla FC on a two-year deal.

“After yesterday’s announcement that he had signed an agreement in principle, the midfielder has today passed his medical and put pen to paper.

“The Malagueno will be here until at least the end of the 2023-24 season. In the coming days, Isco will be formally unveiled as a Sevillista and will meet up with his new teammates for his first training session.”

Who Else Was Interested In Signing Isco?

Isco, a five-time Champions League winner, may no longer be valuable to Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu, but at 30 years old, he is still more than capable of completing a job for a team that wants to regularly qualify for the Champions League.

Naturally, Sevilla were not the only team interested in signing him this summer, with Roma manager Jose Mourinho also keen on bringing him to the Italian city.

The ex real madrid star and Mourinho have the same agency, Jorge Mendes, but at this point in his career, the 38-cap international did not find transferring to Italy appealing.
