Salah Breaks Longstanding Record In Liverpool’s Europa League Victory

Liverpool superstar, Mohamed Salah has broken a 17-year-old record set by former Arsenal hero, Thierry Henry in the Red’s 5-1 win over Toulouse in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Wataru Endo scored his first goal for Liverpool with a header, following Diogo Jota’s opening goal. After that, Darwin Nunez scored the third goal, and Liverpool’s fourth was scored by the outstanding Ryan Gravenberch.

However, Salah—who entered the game off the bench in the second half—scored maybe the most important goal of the evening, shattering a record that Henry had held for about 17 years.

Salah scored his 43rd goal for Liverpool in Europe during the final period. According to Daveockop, the Reds striker has now surpassed Henry to become the all-time top scorer for an English team in Europe.

Despite the Egyptian winger breaking the record with his haul, after the game, most of the conversation focused on a hilarious Nunez mistake and the promising displays of summer arrivals Endo and Gravenberch.

Following the match, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp spoke with TNT Sports as reported by SportBible: “You saw in the moments where it was difficult.

“Most of the time we were in complete control. We made good goals, nobody got hurt, perfect night. We could bring the kids on.”

Upon being asked about Gravenberch, Klopp added: “He’s a good player.

“I’m so happy for him that he starts really enjoying his football again. His first touch is incredible, his acceleration with the ball.”
