Real Madrid ‘Suffer Blow In Bruno Guimaraes Pursuit’

Real Madrid have reportedly been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

Los Blancos have not been hesitant in signing fresh faces for the center of the field in recent transfer windows, with Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni both joining the club.

However, with Luka Modric hitting senior status and Toni Kroos’ long-term future at the club uncertain, options for two key players may be required.

While Jude Bellingham has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, it has recently been suggested that the European champions may wait before making a big-money deal for the England international.

As things stand, it’s uncertain how Real Madrid’s transfer plans for 2023-24 will turn out, but Guimaraes is another name alleged to be on their radar.

In 14 months at St James’ Park, the Brazil international has emerged as Newcastle’s most important player, scoring nine goals and assisting four more.

Although having a contract until 2026, Guimaraes is being linked with a move to a higher-profile club, which may become more likely if Newcastle fail to qualify for the Champions League or Europa League.

Nonetheless, Newcastle remain confident that they will be able to arrange new terms with the 25-year-old, according to Football Insider.

According to the report, the Magpies hierarchy are willing to offer the former Lyon man a lucrative new contract in order to keep him at Saint James’ Park.

Guimaraes is believed to be content with his life on Tyneside and would not be eager to move on at this point in his career.

While Newcastle have enjoyed a great season, they have gone five games without a Premier League win and just lost the EFL Cup final.
