Newcastle Coach Dismisses Anthony Gordon To Arsenal Transfer Links As ‘Irrelevant’

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has brushed aside speculation linking Anthony Gordon with a summer move to Arsenal FC.

Reports earlier this week suggested the Gunners could target Gordon at the end of the season following his resurgence in form.

The winger has been one of Newcastle’s standout performers, rediscovering Premier League consistency and impressing in the Champions League campaign.

However, speaking ahead of Saturday’s clash with Everton FC, Howe insisted the rumours are not a distraction.

“I’m not sure there’s a lot I can do about that,” Howe said. “We’re mid-season, in some of the biggest games of his career, so he has no time to look left or right.”

Howe Urges Focus Amid Speculation

Howe described transfer talk as part of modern football and labelled suggestions of destabilisation as “irrelevant.”

He stressed that players must remain fully focused on performance, especially during crucial stages of the campaign.

Gordon previously addressed similar rumours himself, dismissing them as “a load of rubbish” and reaffirming his commitment to Newcastle.

The 22-year-old is under contract long-term at St James’ Park, and Newcastle view him as central to their ambitions, reports Shieldsgazette.

Howe added that transfer matters should only become relevant when windows are open, urging his squad to concentrate solely on delivering results.

With Champions League football and domestic objectives still in play, Newcastle appear determined to shut down distractions and maintain momentum heading into a decisive period.
