Mourinho Makes Major Decision After Lengthy Ban From UEFA

Following his four-match European suspension, Roma manager, Jose Mourinho has resigned from the UEFA football board.

According to Daily Star, Mourinho informed UEFA of his decision in a letter to Zvonimir Boban, the organization’s chairman and chief of football, after they punished him for using “abusive language” towards Anthony Taylor during the Europa League final.

Premier League referee Taylor was the target of the Special One’s displeasure throughout the game. And after waiting in the parking lot, Mourinho confronted him there with a profanity-filled tirade.

His letter read: “In thanking you for the invitation you extended to me to be a member of the UEFA football board. I regret to inform you that, effective immediately, I will be renouncing my participation in this group.

“The conditions which I so strongly believed in when I joined are no longer standing. And I felt the obligation to take this decision. I kindly ask that you also communicate my decision to the President Mr. Aleksander Ceferin.”

Former official Roberto Rosetti and Boban created the board, while Mourinho only joined it in April. It strives to address the key problems in European football. And is made up of coaches and players from the past and present.

It also includes recently retired Gareth Bale, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, and England manager Gareth Southgate.
