Mourinho Could Become Next Real Madrid Manager

Jose Mourinho could be on the verge of a dramatic return to Real Madrid, with club president Florentino Perez reportedly identifying him as the ideal man to lead the team forward.

The Portuguese coach, who previously managed Madrid between 2010 and 2013, has emerged as the preferred option as the club prepares for another managerial change.

Current boss Alvaro Arbeloa is expected to leave at the end of the season after guiding the team to a second-place position in La Liga. He had taken over from Xabi Alonso earlier in the campaign.

Reports suggest Perez is growing frustrated with Madrid’s recent struggles, particularly after back-to-back seasons without major trophies.

Mourinho’s experience, strong personality, and tactical discipline are believed to be key reasons why the club is considering bringing him back to the Santiago Bernabéu.

A return would also follow a familiar pattern for Madrid, who have previously reappointed former managers such as Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelotti with success.

Mourinho is currently under contract with Benfica until 2027, though reports indicate a release clause of around €3 million could allow an early exit shortly after the season ends.

However, a potential reunion may not be without challenges. The 63-year-old would need to rebuild relationships within the squad, particularly with Vinicius Junior, following criticism earlier this season.

During his previous spell, Mourinho delivered a historic La Liga title in 2011/12, setting records for wins, away victories, and total points.

Despite that success, tensions with key figures—including Cristiano Ronaldo—ultimately contributed to his departure, reports four four two.

With Madrid once again seeking stability and success, Mourinho’s potential return could mark the beginning of another high-profile chapter at the club.
