Morata: I Enjoy Playing With “Special” Joao Felix

After the two forwards were instrumental in a 3-0 victory over Getafe on Monday, Alvaro Morata made it obvious that he enjoys playing alongside Joao Felix at Atletico Madrid.

With Morata scoring twice and Felix picking up a hat-trick of assists for the visitors, Diego Simeone’s team easily won their season opener.

For a team looking to improve upon a disappointing campaign, the link-up play between the two Atletico attackers and Antoine Griezmann’s first league goal since November 2021 made it a fantastic start to the season.

What Did He Have To Say About Felix?

After the win at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, Morata shared his thoughts on his strike partner Felix.

“The truth is that Joao has a special talent, that last pass.

“Although also Correa, Lemar, Marcos, Koke… the people behind put up great balls and we have to keep working and run into space,” he stated.

“I really want to play here, work, play games, there are many competitions and I’m very excited for this season, but as always here.

“They have always treated me very well and I still have to work and give everything for the team.

“There will be times when it goes better, others worse, but it won’t be for lack of work.”

What Does The Future Hold For Morata?

Morata is back at Atletico after spending the previous two seasons on loan at Juventus, but he has been linked with yet another departure from the Rojiblancos.

Manchester United are among the clubs looking to bolster their attacking options with him.

After the game, Morata’s agent, Juanma Lopez, discussed the striker’s future and revealed to El Chiringuito that the player will be staying at the Wanda Metropolitano.

“He has started very well. At the moment he is at Atletico and he is very comfortable,” Lopez said.

“At the moment he has played a great game, every striker wants the goals. Alvaro has a contract with Atletico Madrid, he is going to stay here.”
