Mikel Arteta Responds To Speculation That He Might Leave Arsenal In The Summer To Join Barcelona

According to a report published over the weekend in the Spanish publication Sport, Arteta had told those close to him that he was seriously considering leaving Arsenal at the end of the season.

According to Metro, It happened following Barcelona head coach Xavi’s announcement that he will leave Camp Nou in the summer, with Arteta reportedly being highly considered to succeed his compatriot.

Before completing a permanent move to Rangers in 2002, Arteta played for Barca’s B team for 42 games after rising through the ranks of the La Masia academy.

Nevertheless, Arteta was “committed to managing” the team, according to Arsenal, which swiftly refuted the Catalan rumors. The 41-year-old has a contract that will keep him at the Emirates until 2025.

An agitated Arteta echoed Arsenal’s statement at his press conference on Monday afternoon, insisting he was still totally focused on the task at hand in north London.

When reporters asked Arteta if the rumors had any merit, she responded, “No, that’s totally fake news.”

‘What I read yesterday I don’t know where it’s coming from. I’m really upset about it.

‘I could not believe it. I don’t know where it’s coming from.

‘I think we have to be very careful when you talk about personal things especially.

‘I’m in the right place.’

Arteta emphasized that as he approaches the last 18 months of his current contract in north London, he still has a “strong relationship” with the Gunners’ management.

Regarding his contractual status, he expressed uncertainty. I have a good rapport with the board.

Things develop naturally. That’s how we’ve always done it, and we do it exceptionally well.

When asked if he had discussions about a new agreement, the Spaniard said, “No, we haven’t.” If it is necessary, this is something that will naturally occur when it does.

The 41-year-old, who left his position as Manchester City’s assistant to work for Arsenal back in 2019, claimed he did not “deserve” to read articles casting doubt on his devotion to the team.

When questioned about the reason behind his outrage over the rumors, he said, “One is a consequence of the other.” I will start by saying that I exercise extreme caution when discussing personal matters in public.

“When someone makes a claim about something we personally did.”

Secondly, I don’t believe that kind of news is something that someone should receive. I have always stated the exact opposite. That explains my upset.

Tuesday night, third-place Arsenal will visit Nottingham Forest in an attempt to continue where they left off, having just before the break put five goals past a sorry Crystal Palace.

If Arteta’s team wins at the City Ground and Liverpool and the champions play the next evening, they will pass Manchester City into second place.
