Kylian Mbappe has talked about his close relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo, calling the Real Madrid icon a true friend who has helped him adjust to life in the Spanish city.
The Frenchman is still appreciative of his childhood hero’s advice despite receiving harsh criticism for his latest performance.
Mbappe has never concealed his love for Ronaldo, as seen by the well-known pictures of the Portuguese player’s posters adorning his bedroom walls that have become part of football folklore.
But the 27-year-old has now disclosed that their bond is far more than that of a fan and his idol.
Mbappe Claims Ronaldo Is Now His Friend
The French forward said that they are now friends in an open interview with Vanity Fair as quoted by Goal.
Speaking about their connection, Mbappe said: “He is a friend now. It’s so great when people you idolise when you’re young become your friends.
“We used to talk a lot, and he helped me in my first year at Madrid, because he knows it very well. We have a wonderful relationship and I’m very happy with it.”
