Mason Greenwood Criticized After Sergio Ramos Clash As Manchester United Loanee Falls Short

Mason Greenwood was ridiculed by Sevilla after his Getafe team was eliminated from the Copa del Rey on Tuesday night.

The attacker, on loan from Manchester United, failed to make an impact as Getafe lost 3-1 at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

Depsite their contrasting league form, with Greenwood’s 10th-placed Getafe seven positions above Sevilla, a stellar display from Sergio Ramos inspired a surprise victory. The former Real Madrid captain fired his side in front inside the opening eight minutes, but the hosts soon responded thanks to a Jaime Mata strike.

Despite Greenwood’s best efforts, Sevilla’s Isaac Romero scored two goals in seven minutes, setting Getafe up for a difficult climb. The 22-year-old got on the ball a lot but failed to make much happen and with the subject of derision through Sevilla’s social media come full-time.

The seven-time Europa League winners took to Twitter/X to post four images showing some keys, a wallet, a phone and Greenwood smiling in a Getafe kit. The snaps were accompanied by a caption that read: “Sergio Ramos emptying his back pocket after the game tonight.”

Greenwood is yet to respond to the Tweet but spoke out on the club’s official YouTube channel earlier this month. He said: “I adapted pretty quickly. My teammates took me under their wing and I’ve just been happy ever since, coming here and training, playing the games. I’m happy.

Greenwood is currently sitting on three La Liga goals so far this term, as well as four assists.
