Man Utd Secures Another Pre-Season Win Against Melbourne

Man Utd defeated Melbourne Victory 4-1 on Australian turf after defeating Liverpool 4-0 in their previous friendly in Bangkok.

The Dutch coach started Tom Heaton, Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay, Fred, Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Elanga, and Anthony Martial.

Melbourne took the lead after just six minutes thanks to a goal from Christopher Ikonomidis, but McTominay and Martial helped Man Utd tie the score before halftime.

The 43rd minute saw the Scotland international score with a shot from outside the box that rebounded off a defender and into the goal.

Martia scored Man Utd second goal from the edge of the box just two minutes after a Dalot pass was delivered.

Ten Hag’s carousel of changes began after the half, gradually bringing in Donny Van de Beek, Marcus Rashford, Tyrell Malacia, Alex Telles, and Eric Bailly, as well as youngsters Zidane Iqbal, Charlie Savage, Amad Diallo, Ethan Laird, and Tahith Chong.

Manchester United did not put the match to rest until the 78th minute, when Rashford scored his third goal, with Edmond Lupancu scoring an own goal to make it 4-1.

A few minutes before the game’s conclusion, former Manchester United winger Nani made his Melbourne Victory debut.

Martial Goals

Martial is working his way into Ten Hag’s plans after netting two goals in two pre-season games.

The France forward’s future remains uncertain as United’s current boss conducts a huge clear-out at Old Trafford, but his efforts this week against Liverpool and Melbourne will help his chances.

The 26-year-old was given the chance to make a favorable impact this summer, as Ten Hag had always wanted, and so far, he has done just that.’

His outlook and pace of work have stood out most. His pursuit of Liverpool’s defenders was significant element in United’s 4-0 triumph in Bangkok on Monday, as was his magnificent strike, and against Melbourne he was always on the move, hunting for space in and around crowded penalty area.
His strike just before half was calmly accomplished, giving Man Utd a 2-1 lead at the break.
Ten Hag has been forced to consider other possibilities when Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his want to go, despite the fact that Manchester United are certain he is not for sale.
In addition, the club is about £20 million short of Ajax’s asking price for Antony and has already missed out on the club’s top striker target, Darwin Nunez.
Martial might be the biggest benefactor of the uncertainty in the beginning and grab the possibility to resurrect his career.
