Since United is back in the Champions League, they will require a more competitive and diverse team to handle the demanding and challenging schedule of games.
Man Utd Eyeing Bundesliga Star
Manchester United is reportedly among the teams interested in signing Dortmund defender Waldemar Anton during the summer transfer window, according to reports in Germany.
The 29-year-old is reportedly a huge fan of Michael Carrick in particular, but Dortmund has no plans to let him go in the summer.
In addition to being bound by a contract that expires in 2028, Anton is not thought to be actively pursuing an exit at this time.
Sebastian Hoeneß, the head coach of Stuttgart, called Anton “every coach’s dream.” Last season, he made nine appearances in the Champions League and 32 Bundesliga outings for Dortmund.
Centre-Back Unlikely to Be a Priority
As the summer transfer window approaches, United’s top priority is probably not to sign a center-back. Carrick’s current alternatives at the back include Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro, and Ayden Heaven. Prioritizing a move for a new defense unless someone is expected to depart is illogical.
Even though Heaven and Yoro are young players who have not yet realized their full potential, they are still more than capable of contributing frequently to the club.
United may take advantage of the chance to add a new defender, but it doesn’t seem probable that they will make a major effort to do so this summer.
