Manchester United have been urged to launch a surprise move for Real Madrid defender Trent Alexander-Arnold after the England international endured a difficult debut season in Spain.
The former Liverpool right-back struggled to establish himself at the Santiago Bernabéu, with injuries and inconsistent form limiting his impact throughout the campaign.

Alexander-Arnold started just 14 of Real Madrid’s 37 La Liga matches and found regular opportunities hard to come by in the Champions League.
His disappointing season also saw him miss out on Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Despite his ties to Liverpool, former Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia believes the 27-year-old would be an outstanding addition to Michael Carrick’s squad.
Valencia Backs Old Trafford Switch
Speaking to Hajper, Valencia praised Alexander-Arnold’s qualities, describing him as a player with an excellent right foot, strong defensive ability, and the experience needed to succeed at the highest level.
The Ecuadorian believes United need players with proven winning mentality and strong personalities, insisting Alexander-Arnold possesses both after his success in the Premier League and Champions League, reports Standard.
However, Valencia also stressed that any move should not come at the expense of Diogo Dalot. While he acknowledged the need for Manchester United to refresh the squad, he expressed hope that the Portuguese full-back remains at Old Trafford.
Although there has been no indication that Real Madrid are prepared to sell Alexander-Arnold, Valencia’s comments have sparked fresh speculation over the defender’s future following a challenging first year in Spain.
