Man United Star Reveals Classy Beckham Gesture After England Abuse

Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire has revealed his chat with David Beckham following the abuse he was subjected to after his awful display for England against Scotland last month.

After being subbed on at halftime, Maguire endured a barrage of taunts and abuse from Scotland supporters at Hampden Park. To make matters worse, the Red Devils center-half ended up conceding an own goal in the Three Lions 3-1 victory against the Tartan Army.

According to the Evening Standard, Maguire claims the United icon reminded him of what he had accomplished In a heartfelt phone conversation.

“I actually spoke with David about three weeks ago after the Scotland game, he got in touch with me,” Maguire said. “It meant everything.

“I’ve spoken throughout my career about David Beckham being someone I looked up to and watched when I was a young boy.

“He was a big role model when I was growing up. It shows how classy he is to reach out to me. It was something I really appreciate, it was touching really.

The 30-year-old is getting ready for England’s friendly game against Australia on Friday. And their European Championship qualifying match against Italy the following week.

Maguire hasn’t really been a regular for United this season. Though, he took the rare playing opportunity seriously when he started the Red Devils’ league game against Brentford.

He provided the assist for the winning goal which Scott McTominay buried into the back of the net.

Man United are next in action against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. The England international will fancy his chances of getting a starting berth in the game.
