Roy Keane, a legend of Manchester United and Ireland, lost his mother, Marie Keane.
According to the Irish Examiner, a note on RIP.ie states that Ms. Keane passed away “in the tender loving care of the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Anne’s Ward at Marymount University Hospital and Hospice”.
She is referred to as the “beloved mother of Denis, Johnson, Hilary, Roy and Pat” and was predeceased by her brother Pat and husband, Maurice (Mossie).
Roy once referred to his mother as the “only boss I listen to.” She, along with his late father Maurice, had a significant influence on the mindset of the young Mayfield man who would go on to become one of the greatest players in English Premier League history.
He has always had a close relationship with both of his parents and has never concealed his love and respect for them, despite his hard looks.

When he, Ian Wright, Jill Scott, and Gary Neville brought various mementos from their careers into the studio for a Stick to Football episode last year, he broke down in tears while discussing his family.
When his father, Maurice “Mossie” Keane, passed away at the age of 79, he was reportedly saddened.
After suffering a stroke in 2018, Maurice passed away in the Heather Care Home on the grounds of the Cork Orthopaedic Hospital in August of the following year.
Marie married Mossie in 1963 at the Church of the Resurrection in Farranree on Cork’s northside and they raised the future soccer great and his siblings, Denis, Johnson, Hilary, and Pat in Mayfield
