Liverpool have reportedly rejected Inter Milan’s second transfer bid of £21.7 million for Curtis Jones which is significantly less than what they thought the midfield player was worth.

The Reds have been in negotiations with the Serie A winners for a few weeks after talks were rebuffed in January.

According to Liverpool Echo, Liverpool’s assessment of their Academy graduate is far higher than Inter’s initial bids for Jones.

Inter And Liverpool’s Valuation Miles Apart

The 25-year-old, who ended the season as a temporary right-back for Arne Slot, is sought after by Liverpool for considerably closer to £35 million.

The most recent offer, which was reportedly discussed verbally, is still about £15 million less than what Liverpool believe is a reasonable amount for Jones, who is in the last year of his Anfield deal.

Conor Gallagher’s £35 million transfer from Atletico Madrid to Tottenham Hotspur in January served as the club’s benchmark, and they are thought to have become irritated by Inter’s attempts to entice Jones to the San Siro at a reduced price.

Midfielders Elliot Anderson, Matheus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali have also been linked to moves away this window for fees ranging from £80 to £100 million.

If a cut-price fee is approved, replacing Jones would be challenging for Liverpool at a time when other targets, such as RB Leipzig’s £100 million-rated Yan Diomande, are being given priority.

Inter discovered that Liverpool were not in the mood to lose a key first-team player when they first got in touch with the Reds near the conclusion of the January transfer window.

Though there hasn’t been much movement thus far, the Italian giants have rekindled negotiations in recent weeks.
