Liverpool Look To Sign Federico Chiesa As Mohamed Salah Replacement

Liverpool have reportedly set their sights on Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah.

Salah’s future was called into question last year after the Egypt international refused to rule out a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid in the future, but he eventually agreed to a new deal with Jurgen Klopp’s side until 2025 in July.

The 30-year-old has been a consistent member of the Reds’ starting XI all through the 2022–23 campaign, recording 17 goals and 6 assists from 29 games across all competitions.

Salah hasn’t been in his best form since the World Cup, and in his last four Premier League games for the hapless Reds, he hasn’t scored or provided an assist.

Despite awarding the former Chelsea man a new contract over the summer, Liverpool are reportedly concerned about his decline in form and could be persuaded to part ways with him at the end of the season.

Despite an injury-plagued season in Turin, Juventus and Italy winger Chiesa has emerged as a leading contender to replace Salah at Anfield, according to Calciomercatoweb.

The Bianconeri were recently docked 15 points in Serie A for alleged false accounting and financial irregularities, relegating them to 10th place in the table.

As a result, many of Massimiliano Allegri’s star players are expected to leave in January or the summer, and the report claims that Liverpool and Juve’s strong working relationship could expedite a deal for Chiesa.

The 25-year-old spent two years on loan from Fiorentina in Turin, and his move there was only made permanent in the summer. However, a ruptured cruciate ligament has limited him to just eight appearances this season.
