Lampard: Manchester City are Chelsea’s biggest threat

Frank Lampard believes Manchester City are Chelsea’s biggest threat in the Premier League title race.

Antonio Conte has taken the Blues seven points clear at the top of the table, while a victory against West Ham this evening will extend that lead back to 10 points.

Pep Guardiola’s City emerged as early frontrunners in the top-flight, before their form fell away and they lost ground on Chelsea and Tottenham.

However, City have clinched four consecutive victories to close the gap to second-placed Spurs to just one point.

And Chelsea great Lampard believes Guardiola’s charge are capable of maintaining their run to put pressure on his former side.

When asked which team will emerge as the greatest threat to the league leaders, Lampard told Sky Sports: ‘I think Man City – it’s between them and Tottenham.

‘The way Harry Kane is playing, you wouldn’t say he’s carrying them, but he’s one of the best strikers in the world on current form.

‘Pep says City need to win every game and I think he’s right. But City would be the ones, the way they play, they can get on a run.

‘I still think defensively they’re vulnerable which is why I can’t see Chelsea being caught.’
