Kante is getting even better – Conte

Antonio Conte hailed N’Golo Kante‘s continued impact at Chelsea this season, claiming he’s “improving a lot” in the final third.

After a stunning debut campaign in the Premier League last term at Leicester City, culminating with their remarkable title triumph, Kante earned a big-money move to Stamford Bridge last summer, as Conte looked to strengthen his midfield options.

However the 25-year-old has further cemented himself as one of the Premier League’s best defensive midfielders this season, continuing his fantastic work from last year at the King Power Stadium. Kante and Nemanja Matic have formed a formidable partnership in Chelsea’s midfield, helping them to yet another win on Monday night.

Conte’s men beat West Ham United 2-1 at the London Stadium thanks to goals from Eden Hazard and Diego Costa, but the Italian boss focused his attention on Kante in particular, hailing his continued improvement on the front-foot.

“Kante is a great player, he has great stamina and covers a lot of ground,” Conte told Sky Sports post-match. “He’s improving a lot [in terms of attacking play].”

Kante has scored one goal and created 16 chances in 26 Premier League appearances this season, with an average pass accuracy of 88%, as Chelsea sit top on 66 points, 10 clear of Tottenham Hotspur in second.

Next up for them is a home clash with Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-finals next Monday, before taking on Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium.
