Florian Wirtz should be the focal point of Andoni Iraola’s new Liverpool team, according to Jurgen Klopp.
Iraola is planning how to go at Liverpool after succeeding Arne Slot and has received some guidance from the club’s previous manager.
Wirtz has participated in every minute of Germany’s two World Cup games thus far, helping them defeat Ivory Coast and Curacao. Julian Nagelsmann has given him the attack’s keys and ordered the 23-year-old to go about and make things.
The playmaker, who Liverpool acquired from Bayer Leverkusen for £116 million last summer, has only contributed one assist to Felix Nmecha’s opening goal in the 7-1 crushing of Curacao, but he hasn’t yet lit up the tournament. In 49 games during his rookie campaign, he scored seven goals and provided ten assists for Liverpool.

Wirtz joined after Klopp left Anfield, but despite never having coached him, Klopp is obviously a big admirer of the small midfield player. He feels that Wirtz has to feel his manager’s and teammates’ confidence in order to reach his full potential.
“Including him in the game is crucial. When discussing the 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast on Magenta TV, Klopp remarked, “There were times against Curacao when I thought, just give him the ball.”
“I want Flo Wirtz to feel happy as a teammate, not because he was the best passing option. If I were [Nico] Schlotterbeck, I would simply hand him the ball five times for no specific reason and watch what he does.
Give Flo Wirtz the ball if you truly want him to settle into a rhythm and create a lively atmosphere, as it is when he feels most at ease. Involving him is crucial because it will allow Flo to feel secure and at ease on the field.
