Klopp, who left Liverpool in summer 2024, is now Red Bull’s global Head of Soccer but has maintained strong links to Anfield.
Although the cameo is just one game, Klopp has previously suggested a potential future role at Liverpool in a non-managerial capacity.
Klopp’s Possible Long-Term Return
When leaving the club, Klopp cited fatigue from nearly 25 years in top-level management as his reason for stepping away from coaching duties.
On the Diary of a CEO podcast, he stated: “I said I will never coach a different team in England, that means Liverpool.”
Asked about a return, Klopp gave a three-word hint: “Theoretically, it’s possible,” leaving fans hopeful despite no official managerial role.
He explained that his current Red Bull position allows him a better work-life balance, reducing daily pressures and providing personal satisfaction.
Klopp has coached over 1,080 professional games, including friendlies, and his departure freed him from constant media and press obligations, reports Mirror.
It remains possible that the applause from the Kop during the March fixture could reignite Klopp’s desire to contribute to Liverpool in some capacity.
