Madrid is determined to sign a fresh and proven center defender, despite the fact that Antonio Rudiger will remain at the club.
According to El Debate, Madrid wants to sign Alessandro Bastoni this summer, and the Inter Milan defender is interested in moving to the Spanish and European heavyweights.
Barcelona had been hoping to recruit Bastoni, but the Spanish champions have yet to submit an offer for the Italy international defender.
El Debate, a Spanish news site, said that Mourinho personally intervened and persuaded Bastoni to join Los Blancos.
According to the source, “the Portuguese manager is working independently and has personally convinced Italian Alessandro Bastoni to join Real Madrid this summer.”
‘The 27-year-old is strong, swift, and experienced, and he wants to leave Inter Milan to play in Spain.
‘He’s mad with Flick’s Barcelona for dragging him along. They claimed they would attempt to sign him, but then abandoned him.
‘The German manager feels he is not a viable centre-back for his strong defensive line.
Giuseppe Marotta wants Alessandro Bastoni stay at Inter Milan
“Mourinho has taken up the mantle. He really wants him. The Lombardy native has informed him he is keen to join Real Madrid, but now comes the difficult part: the cost.
According to El Debate, Madrid and Inter have yet to reach an agreement for the Italian centre-back, who is valued at €75 million (£65 million, $87.2 million).
The Spanish news agency reported that Inter Milan has agreed to the trade and is demanding for €75 million.
‘If the transaction goes through, Real Madrid will strive to cut the price. A Real Madrid player might be involved in the pact.
Despite concerns about Bastoni’s future, Inter has openly said that they have no plans to move him after winning Serie A this season.
On May 27, Inter president Giuseppe Marotta told DAZN, as recounted by Football Italia, that he believes Bastono would stay.
“We are not a selling club, so if a player leaves, it is because he indicated a wish to go on.
“I have to emphasize that Bastoni has not shown any wish to quit. He’s pleased here, and we don’t need to sell, so I think he’ll remain.”
