Huge Boost For Man United As Youngster Returns To Training

Man United youngster Alejandro Garnacho participated in first-team training on Friday at Carrington, suggesting that he might be available for selection this weekend against Aston Villa.

Since March 12’s Premier League tie between Man United and Southampton, Garnacho has been sidelined due to an injury.

The winger had to leave the field and was seen using crutches as he left Old Trafford.

In a statement on Wednesday, Erik ten Hag confirmed that the young player had resumed playing on grass this week.

He has since been spotted participating in an entire session with the main group, suggesting his recovery is nearly complete.

Garnacho, who has signed a new contract and extended his stay at the club until the summer of 2028, was not available for the trip to Tottenham on Thursday night, but he could return to the matchday squad to play Aston Villa on Sunday.

The 18-year-old is set to have an important role to play during the remainder of the season after Ten Hag confirmed the club will not allow him to participate in the Under-20 World Cup for Argentina next month.

There were rumors in Argentina that Garnacho would be part of coach Javier Mascherano’s team and miss United’s run in. The competition was billed to begin on May 20.

“No, we don’t release him,” Ten Hag clarified.

“He will return tomorrow in team training, partially. Then we will have to see when he can return totally in the training, and back into games.”
