French Boss Certain Team Will Knock Out Barcelona At Camp Nou

The manager of Paris Saint-Germain Luis Enrique is optimistic that his team will defeat Barcelona in the Champions League when they play the second leg of the quarterfinals in Spain.

In Paris, the Ligue 1 team fell short against the Spanish champions, Barcelona, losing 3-2.

Following Barca’s victory at Parc des Princes, PSG’s 27-game winning streak across all competitions came to an end and Xavi’s team is now in danger of qualifying for the Champions League semifinals for the first time in five years.

Prior to the game on Tuesday, Enrique expressed confidence that his team would pull off a victory.

“PSG have never come back to win after losing a first leg, but [Tuesday] is the day,” he added.

“It was difficult in the days following the game to lose such a big game. The benefit of football is that you have another game against the same opponent, even though it can be difficult to mentally recover.

“I felt that in the first game, we should have at least gotten a draw. This time, we have to perform better. We are not going to back down. We don’t believe in that statement, and we are confident that we can make things right.

“They’ll play for a while, but we’ll press hard. With 24, I believe [Marc-Andre] ter Stegen broke the record for longest passes made in the first leg. This game will probably be comparable. There will probably be objectives. We must play the game because of the 3-2 score.”

Enrique’s History With Barcelona

90 min retraced back from 2014 to 2017 that Enrique oversaw Barcelona and it was under his leadership that the team overcame a 4-0 loss to PSG in the second leg of their historic Champions League last 16 match. In addition, he stated before last week’s meeting that he will take advantage of the fact that he is more familiar with Barca’s DNA than current head coach Xavi.

Enrique reiterated his statement regarding those remarks, saying, “I maintain what I said about [Barca’s DNA] because one defeat or one season is not going to change my mind on that.”
