Foden Compares ‘Scary’ Haaland To Aguero At Man City

Erling Haaland is “scary” in front of goal, according to Phil Foden, and “very similar” to Sergio Aguero of Manchester City. However, Foden also stressed that it might take some time for the $51 million ($62 million) summer transfer to adjust to the Premier League. City reportedly outbid plenty of prominent European clubs for the talents of Haaland, and spent a lot to entice him away from Borussia Dortmund.

Foden has likened Haaland favorably to Aguero, who set a club record by scoring 260 goals for City between 2011 and 2021. Foden has been satisfied with Haaland thus far after watching him score on his debut in a preseason match against Bayern Munich.

What Did Foden Have To Say About  Erling Haaland?

However, Foden believes that Haaland will need some time to get used to the fast-paced English game, as he noted when asked about his new teammate by Sky Sports: “In front of goal he’s scary.

“Everyone knows his goal record, how many he scores, but he’s coming into a completely different league, much faster football so it might take him a little (while) to get used to, but I’m sure when he’s in his flow he’s going to be unstoppable.

“Aguero is very similar. Haaland has got all different types of finishes as well. Like I said he’s scary in front of goal and if we can get him the ball in the right areas he’s going to be really important for us this year.”

What Is Erling Haaland Like Outside Of Football?

It hasn’t taken long for Haaland to become a part of Pep Guardiola’s star-studded team. He quickly became friends with City’s record transfer Jack Grealish and got laughter for his performance of Enrique Iglesias’ “Hero” at his initiation.

The 22-year-old has also won over Foden, who thinks he has the ideal mentality to support City’s chase of trophies on both the domestic and European fronts in 2022–23.

“Top guy off the pitch, he’s a great character, a great addition to the team,” Foden added on Haaland.

“He makes everyone laugh and he’s dead humble, which is important when you come into a team.

“He’s hungry to achieve things with us, so it can only mean good things.”
