A former West Ham academy footballer who attempted to profit from a vase stolen from a museum and estimated to be worth £1.9 million is facing a prison term.
According to The Mirror, the police arrested Leslie Nkhwa, 47, former Hammers academy standout Kaine Wright, 26, and David Lamming, 31. The vase in question was a Chinese vase from the 14th century that was taken from the Swiss Museum of Extreme-Oriental Arts in 2019.
A year later, British police set a trap when the involved gang attempt to get it valued. Which allowed them to capture the offenders.
An attempt was made to sell the vase for £1 million. But later sold for £450,000 at Southwark Crown Court.
Additionally, the pair get to know that Nkhwa is in custody at the Marriott hotel in London. Before Wright and Lamming were later apprehended.
Lamming later conceded the accusation, Nkhwa and Wright were found guilty despite their denials of the conspiracy to convert criminal property charge.
The report also claimed that by October, sentences for all three are expected. Lamming and one of the undercover policemen engaged in the investigation met several times. Including on October 7 at Delfino’s Restaurant in Mayfair.
Wright was a midfielder when he was younger, playing for teams like West Ham and Brentford.

The ex-footballer traveled across the Atlantic to try his luck in the MLS after his experiences at the two Premier League clubs. Wright competed for England in the Socca six-a-side World Cup in 2019.
He even performed in front of Neymar, a Brazilian legend and former star player for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. He played in the footballer’s Five World Finals competition two years earlier, when he came in second.
