Dion Dublin Describes Luton Striker Performance ‘Brilliant’ Against AFC Bournemouth

Carlton Morris, who scored the match-winning goal for Luton Town against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday, was hailed as “brilliant” by Dion Dublin after the striker’s last-minute goal secured the Hatters’ pivotal sixth Premier League victory of the year.

Following the break, the forward, who had been well-managed by the Cherries in the first period, began to exert more of an influence on the game when, with the angle against him and no support, he latched onto a poor header and forced visiting keeper Neto into a simple save with Luton’s first on target.

Then he went even closer, a low drive masterfully blocked by the Brazilian but just as Town were gathering momentum, Marcus Tavernier blasted past Thomas Kaminski from 22 yards, putting them behind, acording to Luton Website

Despite the apparent weakness in their defense, Morris persisted in trying to get the Hatters back into the match. He managed to find a bit of space inside the area but his curler struck the base of the post and bounced away.

But Luton did get the goal they deserved after 73 minutes when Jordan Clark fired a shot into the bottom corner to tie the score.

Then, in the closing seconds, Morris and every Town supporter in the stadium saw the goal they had been waiting for when the striker finished off a pinpoint cross from Cauley Woodrow with a delicious side-foot volley to seal a 2-1 victory.

Brilliant Performance From Luton Striker

Dublin, who spent 20 years as a player for Manchester United, Coventry City, and Aston Villa, said of his performance on Match of the Day: “He’s got a little bit of an old fashioned center forward about him.”

He is quick, strong, and maintains a very straightforward style. This season, he just joined the Premier League, and he’s having a great time playing football.

“I like that all he’s thinking about is trying to make the team better, get into good goalscoring positions and he’s quite calm under pressure even though he’s been out on loan and has really worked hard to get to his position.”

Being a big boy, he also doesn’t mind the game’s physicality. All he wants to do when he’s in these positions is try to get an effort on goal.

“He’s entertaining to watch; his hold-up play is excellent. He’ll pass the ball to a teammate and then just forget about it, focusing only on getting into the area he believes the ball will end up.

He simply slips past the defender, uses his strength, and produces a beautiful finish. On the volley, he crosses his body, uses his strength to push the defender aside, and then displays a hint of cunning. Well done to Luton; he was excellent all day today, so I believe he deserved the emotion.
