Cristiano Ronaldo ‘Torn Between Newcastle United, Al-Nassr Offer’

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly ‘torn between’ Newcastle United and Al-Nassr, with the Portugal international now a free agent.

Manchester United announced on Tuesday that the 37-year-old had been sacked, with the club acting in wake to his shock interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV.

Ronaldo is currently representing Portugal in the 2022 World Cup, but he will be looking for a new club after the tournament, with Sporting Lisbon reportedly interested in re-signing their former starlet.

However, according to Marca, Newcastle and Al-Nassr are strongly interested in signing him on a free transfer at the start of January.

Meanwhile, with their recent takeover, Newcastle United now has the financial resources to compete with the world’s biggest clubs.

Eddie Howe’s team is currently third in the Premier League table, two points behind second-placed Manchester City, with the Magpies vying for a top-four spot at this early stage of the season.

Ronaldo is expected to want assurances regarding playing time at his future club after struggling for regular starts at Man United in the first few months of the 2022-23 season.

The Portuguese has only scored three goals for Manchester United this season, with only one coming in the Premier League.

During an unusual interview with Morgan, Ronaldo was highly critical of the 20-time English champions, including their owners and current head coach Erik ten Hag.

The seasoned forwards had a contract at Old Trafford until the end of June, therefore he reputedly gave up about £16mion in wages to go at this stage in the season.

Ronaldo has 117 goals in 191 appearances for Portugal, and the striker is slated to start the country’s first World Cup match against Ghana on Thursday afternoon.
